Ph.D. in Organizational Leadership – Enrollment and Cost Information


Applications are being accepted for the September 2010 Ph.D. in Organizational Leadership cohort. Completed applications are due November 1, 2009. The Admissions Committee issues decisions no later than January 15th. As space is available, second and third round applications will be reviewed as follows:

  • Applications due March 1st with Admissions Committee decisions issued no later than April 15th.
  • Applications due May 1st with Admissions Committee decisions issued no later than June 15th (There will be a May 1st 2009 deadline for students interested in placement on the waitlist for start in September 2009).

Once accepted into the program, students must submit a $150 deposit  (deducted from their tuition) and register for classes.  Once students are registered, they receive usernames and passwords for email, access to Blackboard, Eastern’s intranet and library resources.

Tuition for the fall 2009 term is $4770.00 ($795 per credit) plus a $115 administrative fee which covers costs related to transcripts, technology, and the Wednesday evening meal at the beginning of each residency.  Procedures for payment are detailed on the student account pages of Eastern’s website at http://www.eastern.edu/centers/sfs/index.html.

We are committed to offering financial aid for students in need. U.S. citizens and permanent residents enrolled in the doctoral program are eligible for Stafford Loans, if they have not exhausted their financial aid opportunities in previous programs. The structure of this program qualifies as full-time enrollment, and all of the federal aid possibilities it entails. To successfully complete the Ph.D. program, students must earn 60 credits, including 51 credits in core and concentration studies and 9 credits for the dissertation proposal, dissertation and oral defense. In order for students to begin the dissertation proposal phase, they must successfully complete comprehensive exams of the core curriculum.

General Calender

The basic calendar framework is three years of coursework followed by research for the dissertation. There are three terms per year: September-December, January-April, May-August, with two courses offerings (6 credits) per term.
