Eastern University Academy Charter School

About Us

Eastern University has long been devoted to the mission and vision of promoting diversity, improving communities, and increasing opportunities for members of societal groups who have not traditionally attended or succeeded in college.

The University has worked with the School District of Philadelphia in providing dual credit programs for high school students through The Cross Boundaries College for Young Professionals dual enrollment program which over the past six years has been committed to the development of a high school program focused on improving college preparation for Philadelphia’s students.

The University embraced the vision of the Gates foundation’s dedication to increasing college preparedness and early college attendance of inner city youth, and subsequently applied and were accepted into the Woodrow Wilson National Fellowship Foundation’s Early College High School Initiative.

Opening in September 2009, Eastern University Academy Charter School will be a model of true integration of an Early College program where students prepare for and earn college credit prior to graduation, and a Big Picture School, where students spend a large amount of time pursuing their individual interests through individual work projects, small group projects, service learning projects, and structured internships.
