Library Cards

The E-card issued to all members of the Eastern Community serves as a library card for the purpose of borrowing materials.

A different library card will be issued on request and at no charge to alumni, area clergy, and members of the Friends of the Library.  Anyone holding a library card from an ACCESS PA participating library can borrow material directly from us or through their library's Interlibrary Loan service.  In the wider community, those who are 18 or older and not otherwise associated with Eastern or a cooperating institution can obtain borrowing privileges by joining the Friends of the Library.

A valid card must be presented in order to borrow materials.

Interlibrary Loan or E-Z Borrow Book

Any patron losing a book borrowed from another library incurs special charges.  The library charges an initial penalty fee of $80.00.  Any and all charges from the lending library (variable)  are added to that amount and billed through student accounts.   Interlibrary Loan and E-Z Borrow fines and fees are levied against all patrons.

Interlibrary Loans (ILL) and E-Z Borrow:

Almost 55 million items, both books and articles, can be obtained through the OCLC database.  To submit requests, fill out a Book or Periodical Request Form.  You will find printed forms in the library to submit in person, or make your request online through our library homepage or by linking to the form from one of our databases. The library charges no fee for this service. Delivery is approximately ten days.

Patron book loans can often be made directly to other libraries through the PALCI E-Z Borrow system, which generally has a shorter delivery time than regular ILL.  Patrons are encouraged to check E-Z Borrow before filing an ILL book request.

The library will not process Interlibrary Loan requests for sexually inappropriate materials,  Sexually sensitive material may be requested for students when approved by faculty as part of recognized, course specific, academic research.

Intra-campus loans to the Palmer Theological Seminary can be obtained via ILL within 48 hours.
