Having graduated from Penn as a Pediatric/Adolescent Nurse Practitioner, Dr. Jackson began full time clinical practice concurrently with joining Eastern University as an adjunct faculty member. As a PNP, Dr. Jackson worked in a federally funded clinic in Philadelphia, and in primary care practices in Paoli and Coatesville, PA. She has also held clinical positions in Psych/Mental Health, home care and hospice. A certified school nurse, she continues clinical practice at the School for the Deaf in Philadelphia.

Dr. Jackson focused on holistic and integrative healthcare during her PhD process, and is a certified advanced holistic nurse (AHN-C). She has served the American Holistic Nurses Association (AHNA) and American Holistic Nurses Credentialing Corporation (AHNCC) in various roles over the years, and was chosen for the Holistic Nurse of the Year award in 2011 for teaching, holistic practice, publishing, and service to the national organization. In her role as Curriculum Committee chairperson, Dr. Jackson led Eastern’s department of nursing to formal endorsement by the AHNCC as a holistic certification preparation program in 2008. Dr. Jackson is the Associate Editor of the journal Holistic Nursing Practice: The Science of Health and Healing, and is an Editorial Review Panel Member for the Journal of Holistic Nursing.

In 2012, Dr. Jackson received both the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Associates and Practitioner’s (NAPNAP) President’s Choice Award and the Journal of Pediatric Health Care Leah Harrison Excellence in Clinical Writing Award for the article “Back Pain in Children: A Holistic Approach to Diagnosis and Management”.

Each semester for the past 15 years, Dr. Jackson has taught Yoga and Pilates as a part of Eastern’s core fitness curriculum. She has also worked intensively with several of the men’s and women’s athletic teams. Through learning and practicing this mind-body-spirit approach to wellness, more than one thousand Eastern students have learned to experience a state of calm mindfulness… to literally become more still and better able to receive God.

Dr. Jackson has been involved in many aspects of the university over the years, and has twice served as the Faculty Senate Moderator. Certified as a nurse educator through the National League for Nursing (CNE), Dr. Jackson was the recipient of the 2010 Lindback Award for Distinguished Teaching.
