The Minor in Marketing at Eastern University is designed to provide students with a strong marketing foundation through courses that address the primary functional concerns of marketing in organizations both large and small, for profit and non-profit. Eastern’s 100% online MEd in Educational Leadership prepares teachers to become leaders and change agents in their schools and districts. The dynamic curriculum covers current practices, compares those to leading national and international exemplars and inspires students to think critically about the role of educational leaders today. While earning an MEd, complete coursework (including an internship) toward your Principal or Single Area Supervisory Certification.

Students who are interested in teaching English to non-English speakers may take this certification. This is not a stand-alone certificate. Therefore, students are advised to fulfill the requirements listed for the BA in Elementary Education or secondary education with student teaching or secondary education while completing the Certification in English as a Second Language (ESL) (PK-12) requirements listed below.

The successful completion of the ESL Program Specialist Certification will prepare students to develop classroom enterprises best suited for academic and individual needs of English learners. Graduates will be eligible to teach English as a Second Language in the elementary and secondary level (PK-12) in public schools. Candidates must hold or concurrently work on an Instructional I or II teaching certificate.

As one of the few programs of its kind in the state, Eastern University’s Health and Physical Education graduate certification program is equipped to guide adult learners, leading to the opportunity to become Pennsylvania certified teachers from grades PK-12. This program can be combined with our various Master of Education programs for those seeking to advance their careers in the field of education.

The Instructional Technology Specialist Certification Program (PK-12) is designed for educators who are motivated to develop their instructional technology skills, while also preparing teachers for supervisory roles in online instruction.  The courses are built upon our Online Instructional Endorsement’s framework and also by the standards put forth by the International Association for PK-12 Online Learning (iNACOL).

The Certification in Middle Level is committed to the task of equipping its graduates to comprehend and apply the knowledge, concepts, and skills essential for successful middle level instruction, grades 4-8. The program is designed to promote the delivery of a high quality teacher preparation program which is aligned to the state academic standards. The intent is to produce new teachers who will understand and successfully apply learning principles in the classroom. The needs and interests of middle level students and their schools are at the center of the program.

Students seeking a middle level certification to teach in any 4-8 grades will choose from concentrations that include: 1) English/Reading, 2) Social Studies, 3) Mathematics, and 4) Science. The concentration that the student chooses entitles the graduating student to teach that subject in any of the 4 through 8 grades and in the other non-concentration (focus) areas, grades 4 through 6. Students may choose between nine different tracking options (see below) including dual concentrations with either Mathematics or Science as the other concentration.

The MEd in Multicultural Education program prepares graduates to face the challenges of the highly diverse school-age population of the United States in the coming decades. The BS in Music Education provides students the opportunity to study music and the art of teaching with award-winning faculty scholars. Upon successful completion of all required courses, students with receive Music Education certification (PK-12) and the opportunity to teach music in Pennsylvania (PA) public schools.

The Online Instruction Program Endorsement (PK-12) is designed for classroom teachers who are passionate about developing their craft in the online environment, while also preparing to become teacher-leaders in the field of instructional technology.

The Certification in Reading Specialist program is designed to prepare students to serve as PK-12 Reading Specialists who support students and teachers through research-based approaches to assessment and instruction. The Specialist Certification programs are offered only at the graduate level and candidates must hold an Instructional I or II certification.

Become an advocate for students while promoting the welfare of an entire learning community.The MEd in School Counseling prepares you to seek state certification as a PK-12 school counselor, licensed professional counselor, and licensed behavior specialist.

The Master of Education in School Health Services is committed to preparing professionals to function effectively in settings in which children and youth are served. The mission of the program is to produce outstanding health professionals who are committed to meeting the needs of a diverse population and to their holistic development.

The successful completion of the Certification in School Health Supervisor program will prepare Certified School Nurses to supervise school health services in the elementary and secondary levels (K-12). Candidates must hold a School Nurse Certification and have completed five years of satisfactory experience in the school setting. 

The Certification in School Nurse professional education program is offered fully online and meets the requirements for the Education Specialist 1 (K-12) Certification in School Nurse in Pennsylvania.

The School Principal Certification will lead you through new educational challenges and models, while building your capacity for strategic thinking and effective action. The program integrates internship experiences with those of the classroom, so that your entire program is field-based. The successful completion of this program will prepare students to administrate as a PK-12 Principal or Assistant Principal.

To be able to teach a foreign language in Pennsylvania (PA) public secondary schools, students need to declare the first major in either language and elect a secondary major in language certification. The BA in Dance is community-based dance program focused on pursuing technical excellence combined with the Christian faith.  Dance faculty have regional, national, and international recognition with expertise in research, education, performance, choreography, community-based arts, and studio work.

Eastern University's Fine Arts minor incorporates courses in music, art, theater, dance history, modern dance and world dance history.  No audition is required for the Fine Arts Minor.

Eastern University’s BA in Theatre allows students to integrate their Christian faith into their art form while preparing them for careers in theatre.  Students learn through rigorous academic curriculum and real-world performance production.  In addition to improving their personal skills and talents, our hope is for every student to also leave equipped and excited to influence the world. 

The Theatre Minor is designed for students with varying levels of experience who want to try something new or continue honing their craft at an advanced level of training. Students who participate in Theatre courses or productions develop skills in self-expression, communication, and collaboration, preparing them for success in a range of fields. 

The BS in Exercise Science program at Eastern University prepares students for entry-level exercise science careers, involving people on a broad continuum of health and physical fitness and in a wide variety of settings. The Exercise Science program is formed on the biological and physiological sciences and focuses on human work, which encompasses recreation, athletic competition, occupation, and medical therapy.

The BA in Health Sciences program is designed to allow students to develop a scientific foundation for the study of the human body, focusing on the structure and function of the body in conditions of wellness and disease. 

Bioethics provides a framework for assessing the moral dimensions of biomedical research and practice, while Medical Humanities cultivates the narrative competence required for contextualizing patients' stories and heightening perceptual acuity.


The Traditional Pre-Licensure Program at Eastern University offers the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and prepares graduates who can safely provide professional holistic nursing care for patients and are generalists in varied clinical practice settings. BSN students will learn to incorporate Christian values and ethics into all areas of nursing, in order to know how to meet the needs of their future patients. BSN students will gain hands-on experience in Eastern’s on-campus Nursing Clinical Resource Laboratory and off campus clinical agencies.

Eastern University has also developed a program to help students who have non-nursing bachelor’s degrees prepare for a nursing career in as little as two years of full-time study.  The BSN (Pre-Licensure) is a second degree nursing program that prepares the student for a career as a baccalaureate-prepared nursing professional. Equipped with a previous degree and the prerequisites, the student enters the program as a junior BSN student. 

The Online MSN program prepares nurse leaders to transform professional nursing in varied health care-related and academic settings by integrating holistic practices, Christian values, and ethics.

The Pre-Athletic Training Track prepares students for careers in the field of athletic training.

Essentially, it involves a defined set of pre-requisite courses.  Eastern University intentionally does not have a formal “Pre-Occupational Therapy” major. Instead, the pre-requisite courses are incorporated within the course work required of other majors, such as biology, psychology, athletic training and exercise science. This allows students to obtain knowledge and skills in an area that will allow them to obtain a job related to their major, if, for whatever reason, graduate school attendance needs to be deferred. A degree in “pre-occupational therapy” or “allied health” limits the scope of what one can do upon graduation.

Eastern's pre-pharmacy major in Biochemical Studies includes all the courses necessary to prepare for a graduate degree in pharmacy at the vast majority of pharmacy schools throughout the country. Eastern students can benefit from our partnership with Temple University that guarantees qualified students entrance into the Temple University School of Pharmacy (TUSP) for their distinguished Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) program.

Models of policy agenda settings, adoption, evaluation, and implementation are considered with reference to substantive policy areas such as economic, environmental, social welfare, health, and civil rights. Palmer Seminary's Doctor of Ministry program is designed for professional church and parachurch leaders interested in holistic renewal of communities with concentrations: Religion and Public Policy, Personal and Spiritual Transformation, and Prophetic Preaching and Teaching. 

The Master of Divinity Degree (MDIV) is the standard degree required by many church denominations prior to ordination to pastoral ministry.  However, more and more the MDIV is also the degree of choice for men and women who are called to a variety of ministries beyond the pastoral one. 

Palmer’s MDIV has been crafted for both of these kinds of callings, with students able to choose between a “Pastoral Leadership” track and an “Adaptive Leadership” one with a significant number of electives.  

The MDiv/MBA in Management is a dual degree program represents Palmer's longstanding commitment to holistic ministry: ministry that addresses spiritual, emotional, social, and material needs. Students are able to complete both a Master of Divinity and MBA in Management in a total of only 4 years.

The Next Gen Ministry Minor offers students the opportunity to consider theoretical and philosophical approaches to ministry with the next generation, while developing practical skills that can be used for leadership and service in ministry settings. 

The PhD in Professional Practice is a 100% online program designed to provide experienced professionals from diverse fields with an opportunity to carefully examine and thoughtfully assess the outcomes and professional contributions of their careers.

Palmer Theological Seminary's Master of Theological Studies (MTS) degree prepares women and men for careers in parachurch ministry, public policy, and teaching, among others, and encourages approaching all vocations as ministry. Students can choose concentrations in Christian Faith and Public Policy, Biblical Studies and Theology, Christian Counseling, and General Studies.

Those pursuing the BA in Theological Studies at Eastern can expect to grow in their understanding of the key issues, concepts, and personalities that have contributed to the living tradition that is the Christian faith. They will be asked to understand the significance of this tradition for the development of a Christian identity that is theologically grounded, personally meaningful and socially engaged, and will be encouraged to critically interpret and creatively apply that tradition in order to illumine and engage their life contexts in a distinctively Christian fashion.

The Minor in Theology and Ethics is a flexible program of study designed for students pursuing vocations outside of the church and who have a particular interest in Christian ethics and social justice. It is also suitable for those who may be interested in eventual graduate study. It can easily be paired with a number of other majors offered by the University, allowing students to draw upon the rich offerings of the Department as they think about their vocational pursuits in relation to the broad contours of the Christian faith.
