Joy Elvin
Dr. Elvin received her BSW from Eastern University, MSW from Widener University, and Doctorate in Education from Nova Southeastern University. Dr. Elvin has returned to Eastern after 14 years of working with families across the life span in direct services and program administration. Dr. Elvin transitioned to full-time work in higher education and has worked as an adjunct professor in graduate and undergraduate programs teaching across the curriculum in a variety of delivery formats. While teaching in higher education, Dr. Elvin also served as a field liaison placing and supervising students in social work internships with a wide variety of agencies in Southern New Jersey.
Training and teaching new social workers have been defining features of Dr. Elvin's career.
Dr. Elvin joined the Eastern University community in July of 2022 as an associate professor and MSW Director of Field. Dr. Elvin brings her passion for people, and her knowledge of social work, and education to the graduate social work program.
Dr. Elvin is a Delaware Valley native. She and her family currently reside in Southern New Jersey.

Dr. Elvin's dissertation study focused on successful retention measures utilized within area child welfare agencies. Dr. Elvin’s current research interests include the rights of children within the child welfare system and the role of naturalized concepts in the generational transfer of racial and ethnic concepts.
