Maddy Kameny considers herself a lifetime student of Bharatanatyam. She studied the Vazhuvoor style of Bharatnatyam under Guru Smt. Sridevi Jagannath, Laasya School of Dance and Music in NC, beginning in 1999 and presented her arangetram (formal solo dance debut) in 2011. While living for a few months in India, she also studied the Kalakshetra style of Bharatanatyam in Hyderabad under Guru Smt. Ananda Shankar Jayant and worked with her Guru's Guru Smt. Padmini Ravi in Bangalore. While a student at the University of Pittsburgh, she was a member of the national award-winning competitive Bharatanatyam dance team, Pitt Nrityamala. Since then, she has continued choreographing for solo and groups, teaching, and performing throughout NC and PA as well as Hyderabad, Bangalore, Phoenix, and Kansas.
