Spring has sprung on campus and new growth is happening In our Eastern Dance Community! Please come support our dancers as they present two programs of original choreography by students and faculty. Featuring exhilarating Senior thesis presentations by Angel Reynolds on 4/19 and Brianna Sanders on 4/20 these thematic works are sure to entertain.
Other pieces explore: the ups and downs of friendships, a day in the life of a pirate, God's grace, and turning past obstacles into new beginnings. This varied line up will delight audiences of all ages.

Dance Concert: December, 2023
Wrapping up this festive season of EU’s mainstage productions is the Dane Department’s premiere of Ascensions. After a semester’s worth of directing, rehearsing and refining their work, the choreographers and dancers are thrilled to share their accomplishments with a live audience. Please come support them as they deliver thought-provoking physical manifestations of concepts such as: living life to the fullest, the Second Coming, friendship, the loss of a loved one, our primitive yet refined human tendencies, and the simple beauty of pure dancing. Cion Rawls will present his tour de force Senior Thesis on escaping from the negative labels society places upon us that gives way to wholeness, community and ultimately celebration. Wrapping up this season of EU’s mainstage performances is the Dance Department’s premiere of “Found Wandering.” After a semester’s worth of directing, rehearsing and refining their work, the choreographers and dancers are thrilled to share their accomplishments with a live audience. Please come support them as they deliver thought-provoking physical manifestations of concepts such as: the peace and dance as worship. Rachel Noonan will present her multi-layered Senior Thesis on the redemptive power of Christ’s love that can be found while wandering. View a video of the Found Wandering performance.

Hot on the heels of EU’s successful Theatre and Music productions comes the Dance Department’s offering, DIMENSIONS. This entertaining evening of dynamic, ground-breaking choreography is sure to excite the body, challenge the intellect, and inspire the soul. Ranging in styles from modern to jazz to African dance, the concert will be accessible to all ages. Some of the themes our guest choreographer, faculty, and students have developed are: ocean tides, toxic friendships, God’s faithfulness, peace after conflict, Manic Depression, and simply letting go. Spring Forward, featuring works by students, faculty, and a special Senior Thesis presentation by Lillian Brown. Has this season put a spring in your step yet? If not you can count on getting inspired by the Dance Department’s latest production, Spring Forward. Featuring the original works of students and faculty, the evening promises to deliver captivating works of energetic choreography performed by Dance Majors, Dance Minors and enthusiasts. With styles ranging from Modern and Jazz to Tap and Ballet Pointe Work, this concert will delight audiences of all ages. The pieces are inspired by: Puppets, Birds, Being a Dancer at Eastern, Transitions in Life, Finding one’s True Path, Surviving a Storm and Rediscovering one’s Authentic Self. Winter Dance Concert: December 2021
Our last Eastern performance of the year was a professional quality Dance concert entitled “Musings.” The highly original, thought-provoking dances reflected the choreographic talents of our students and faculty. With styles ranging from Ballet to Lyrical to Modern, this production had something for everyone. The exciting line-up included pieces about: finding beauty in the smallest things, overcoming pain with playfulness, discovering how to trust one another, navigating a conflicted love story, and celebrating God’s love through a gospel inspired tour de force. The evening also featured senior Laura Schoenhals’ thesis, “Full of Grace" as seen through the lens of Mary, the mother of God. View a recording of "Musings" (livestream recording).
