Qualifying Academic Programs

Beginning in Fall 2026, all students enrolled at Eastern University (excluding Esperanza programs) will participate in Eagle Learning Materials. If you would like to opt-out of the program, please review the FAQ titled “How Do I Opt-Out/Do I need to opt out each term?”

How does the program work?

Eagle Learning Materials takes the hassle out of getting your course materials by including the cost with the charges on your school statement. This provides every enrolled student access to all required materials on the first day of class. Once you have selected your courses, your course list will be sent to the Campus Bookstore. The Campus Bookstore will prepare everything for  you. All you need to do is check your school email for instructions on how to access your course materials for the term.

How often are materials supplied?

Required materials are supplied at the beginning of each term. The materials will be accessible on the first day of classes. Please continue to check your school email before the start of each term.

Will I save money?

Yes! Students can save up to 80% of the cost of materials based on savings at other schools thanks to the campus store relationships with publishing partners and bulk purchasing power. The program also reduces student stress during the purchasing process and provides a method to easily access, manage, and use all course materials regardless of format or cost.

Are Eagle Learning Materials required, or can I Opt-Out of the program?

Students may choose to opt-out of Eagle Learning Materials. Students wishing to opt-out must do so by the specific date at the beginning of each reporting term (Fall, Spring, Summer). All students are automatically enrolled in Eagle Learning Materials and must take action to opt-out of the program. (If students opt out of Fall 1, they are automatically opted out for Fall 2 as well. If they are opted in for Fall 1, they are automatically opted in for Fall 2.)

Students who opt-out of Eastern Eagle Learning Materials are responsible for finding and purchasing their required course materials on their own.

How do I get my course materials?

Once you have selected your courses, your course list will be sent to the campus store, and they will prepare everything for you! All you need to do is check your school email for where to locate your materials.

Can I have my printed learning materials shipped to me?

While most courses will require electronic texts, some in-person instructors may prefer hard copy texts. In the case of hard copy texts, you will have the opportunity to pick up your materials at the bookstore. For an additional fee, students can choose to have printed materials shipped. Contact the campus store at bookstore@eastern.edu for details.

Can I choose if I want print or digital materials?

Print or digital format is determined based on the adopted material for the specific course prior to the start of class. If you are a student with a qualified disability requiring print versions or other accommodations, please contact The Office of Disability and Access (ODA) for more information.

What if I add or drop a course?

If you add or drop a course, that information is automatically transmitted to the Eastern University Bookstore. For added courses, digital materials will be emailed to your school email account or provisioned directly into Brightspace. For printed materials, you will receive an email (check your school email address) when the new print materials are shipped.

For the courses dropped prior to the last day to drop/add, printed materials must be returned to the Eastern University Bookstore. Access to electronic or digital materials will be automatically disabled.

The Eagle Learning Materials fee covers all course materials for the entire semester. If you are still enrolled in at least one other course, there will be no financial impact on dropping a course.
 

How Do I Opt-Out/Do I need to opt out each term?

All students are automatically opted-into Eagle Learning Materials; however, students may opt-out of the program during specified opt-out periods. You will have the option to opt out of Eagle Learning Materials at the start of each reporting term (Fall, Spring, Summer).

What are the Opt-Out dates for each academic year?

All Eastern University students are automatically opted-into Eagle Learning Materials; however, students may opt-out of the program by the deadline, which is the same as the "last day to drop" for each academic term. These dates can be found on the appropriate academic calendar.

What if I opted out by mistake or changed my mind?

If you already opted out and the opt-out period has not ended, you can opt back in during that period of time. Please log back into the opt-out portal and choose “Opt-In”. You can login to the Opt-Out Portal OR check your school email address for the link to the Opt-Out portal. Reach out to the bookstore at bookstore@eastern.edu if you have questions.

If my professor has recommended course materials, will those be included in Eastern Eagle Learning Materials?

Only materials identified by your professor as “required” are included in Eagle Learning Materials. All “recommended” materials will be available for purchase separately at the Eastern University Bookstore.

What if I get an incomplete grade in a course and need additional time to access course materials?

If that course includes a printed material, that material is yours to keep. If that course includes a digital material, the length of access is dependent upon that specific material. Please contact the Eastern University Bookstore at bookstore@eastern.edu for details.
