Academic Coaching

Academic coaching is a personalized, student-centered approach designed to help students achieve their academic goals and enhance their overall college experience. It involves one-on-one sessions with a trained academic coach who provides guidance, support, and strategies tailored to the student's individual needs. This individualized approach ensures that each student's unique challenges and strengths are addressed, supporting them in becoming more effective, independent learners and enhancing their overall college experience.

A breakdown of some of the things we do in academic coaching are:

  1. Goal Setting: Coaches help students identify their academic and personal goals, creating a clear roadmap for success.
  2. Time Management: Students learn effective time management techniques to balance their coursework, extracurricular activities, and personal life.
  3. Study Skills: Coaches teach strategies for effective studying, note-taking, and test preparation, helping students improve their academic performance.
  4. Motivation and Accountability: Regular check-ins with a coach help keep students motivated and accountable for their progress.
  5. Self-Advocacy: Coaches empower students to communicate their needs and seek resources, such as tutoring, advising, and counseling services.
  6. Stress Management: Students learn techniques to manage stress and maintain a healthy balance between academic responsibilities and personal well-being.
  7. Personal Development: Coaching often includes discussions about personal growth, building resilience, and developing a positive mindset.
  8. Resource Connection: Coaches can connect students with campus resources, such as writing centers, career services, and academic advising.

Overall, academic coaching aims to support students in becoming more effective, independent
learners and enhance their overall college experience by addressing academic and personal
development needs.
