PA Certification Requirements
- Complete coursework for the PK-12 Special Education Certification
- Successfully complete PECT tests:
- The PK-12 Special Education Certification Testing: Test Modules #5354 (Discontinued 8/31/23 but accepted if taken before the discontinued date) #5355 (New starting 9/1/2023) and #5511. Visit the Praxis Website.
State Authorizations

Students who seek similar credentialing in states other than Pennsylvania are advised to contact the appropriate credentialing agency within their home state to seek information and additional guidance about credentialing in your state of residence. Additional state or local district requirements may exist for field placements in this state. Out-of-state student placements cannot be guaranteed by the program or the College of Education and Behavioral Sciences.
