St. Davids, PA: Eastern University is pleased to announce a new Military Recruitment Initiative, and to introduce Nicholas (Nick) Snyder as the Director of Military Recruitment. This new initiative emphasizes the University’s commitment to maintain and continually improve upon a culture that is supportive to military and veteran students in pursuit of their academic and career goals. Visit the Center for Military & Veteran Students Web site.
As part of the Military Recruitment Initiative, Eastern now offers several financial awards to veterans, military spouses, and military dependents including the Hero Grant that discounts tuition for many graduate programs by 25 percent. Eastern’s new initiative includes plans to develop strategic relationships with the Department of Defense, military installations and veteran organizations to attract and best serve those who have served or are serving our country. The University has also created a user friendly centralized site for information on the website specific for those in the military and veterans at eastern.edu/military.
A veteran himself, Snyder will be the primary point of contact for current and prospective military and veteran students and their spouses and dependents to discuss benefits, transitioning to student life, available resources at the University and guidance on managing issues unique to the people group. On becoming Director of Military Recruitment, Nick said, “I am humbled and honored to be tasked with helping Eastern better serve my fellow veterans and lead efforts that will grow enrollment from this population. Becoming a truly military friendly institution is very much in keeping with our values at Eastern and our call to empower students to make a difference and who have a strong understanding of mission. I look forward to working with the EU community as we intentionally engage and serve our nation's veterans."
Snyder is earning a MBA in Management from Eastern University and has completed a BA in Youth Ministry. Snyder is also part of the Graduate and Professional Studies enrollment team, which he has been a part of since 2012. During 2007-2009 Snyder served in Operation Iraqi Freedom and in 2009 received the Army Commendation Award for meritorious service for his service during Operation Iraqi Freedom. He was part of the 25th Infantry Division, 2nd Brigade during its transition from a light infantry unit to a Stryker Brigade Combat Team.
