The Center for Career Development recognizes that professional development is a lifelong, ongoing process that does not end when you graduate. All alumni of Eastern University are welcome to utilize our web resources and participate in our events and programs. All alumni also have lifetime access to Handshake, our online career database. Career counseling services are limited based on graduation date.

Eastern University Alumni of Traditional Undergraduate, Graduate and Adult Undergraduate programs are welcome to contact the Center for Career Development for career assistance up to two (2) years after their graduation date for individual assistance with resumes, cover letters, interviewing, and assistance with LinkedIn.

We operate under the following general guidelines, time and availability permitting:

  • Two (2) one-hour appointments per person annually OR
  • Two (2) document reviews per person annually (resume, CV, cover letter, etc.)

To schedule an appointment with a career counselor, please email careers@eastern.edu with your availability. Appointments will take place over Zoom. Our business hours are 9am-5pm.

Resume and cover letter reviews can take place over email without an appointment. Please note that when a resume and/or cover letter is submitted for review it will take a minimum of three (3) business days before we are able to return it to you with feedback.

The Center for Career Development primarily services currently enrolled students. Depending on the time of year and staffing constraints, appointment availability and services may be limited.

Alumni who are more than two (2) years post-graduation may use the resources in the Career Resource LibraryBig Interview, and Handshake. We have also developed a list of community resources you can access for further assistance:

Civility Policy

Eastern University’s Center for Career Development strives to include and serve all students with civility and respect. Students are expected to treat CCD staff with dignity, politeness and understanding as described by our University Student Conduct, Policies, & Procedures. Students who are uncivil to CCD staff (including name-calling, aggressive behavior, yelling, etc.) and/or demonstrate disregard for CCD policies will be asked to leave/will have their meeting cut short. Continual displays of unprofessionalism and disrespect will be documented and escalated to the Dean of Students.

Cancelation Policy

If you need to cancel your appointment, please do so within 24 hours notice. We understand that emergencies arise and this is not always possible, so a properly canceled appointment is one that notifies our office prior to your scheduled appointment. Notification is defined as having canceled your appointment via Handshake, email, or phone call to the office prior to your scheduled appointment’s start time.

No Show Policy

If you fail to attend your appointment without canceling or notifying the office (no show) at least 24 hours in advance, you will be required to wait seven (7) days before requesting a new appointment. An appointment requested prior to the seven (7) day waiting period will be denied. If you are more than 15 minutes late to the appointment, the appointment is considered a no show. If you are an alumni and you do not show for an appointment, it counts as one of the two appointments available to you as an alumni.
