Dr. Scanterbury has spent over 13 years providing spiritual and emotional support to people living with cancer and their families. During that time, he has led several programs and workshops that address the complexities of life, caregiving, parenting, and community support in the context of cancer.
As a Marriage and Family therapist, Dr. Scanterbury supports individuals, couples, and families pursuing life transformation, strengthening relationships, or confronting personal and interpersonal challenges. He is a Certified Grief Counseling Specialist and Certified Trauma Professional, and is deeply committed to supporting clients experiencing traumas, living losses, and loss due to the end-of-life.

Dr. Scanterbury’s research interests include the role and impact of family communication on the experience of cancer and other chronic illnesses, as well as the role of historical trauma on intergenerational family dynamics in marginalized communities.
