Diversity, Equity and Belonging Advisory Council (DEBAC)
In order to successfully create and nurture an environment that values and fosters Diversity, Equity and Belonging, the Executive Team for Diversity, Equity and Belonging, believes it is critical to have an Advisory Council. The Diversity, Equity and Belonging Advisory Council (DEBAC) includes members from across Eastern’s Colleges, Seminary, departments and units. It serves as an important collaborative partner in the work of Diversity, Equity and Belonging at Eastern University. The Council meets bi-monthly and is composed of a group of diverse individuals of faculty, staff, students, alumni and Board of Trustees who are committed to celebrating diversity. They have been recommended because of their influence, expertise and passion for the work of Diversity, Equity and Belonging.
The purpose of the DEB Advisory Council is five-fold:
- Provide content expertise on Diversity, Equity and Belonging.
- Work collaboratively to support the mission and programs for Diversity, Equity and Belonging at Eastern University.
- Provide ongoing and timely feedback to the Special Assistant to the President for Diversity, Equity and Belonging and Executive Team.
- Provide specific, actionable recommendations grounded in best practices that are clearly aligned with the priorities of Eastern University’s Strategic Plan for Diversity, Equity and Belonging.
- Create greater accountability and effectiveness to the work of Diversity, Equity and Belonging at Eastern University.
