St. Davids, PA: Eastern University is pleased to announce that Dr. Stacey Sauchuk has officially begun her term as Chair of the Board of Trustees. The University also extends its sincere gratitude to Steve Clemens as he retires from the Board following more than 20 years of service, including nine years as Board Chair.
Dr. Sauchuk brings extensive experience in higher education leadership, nonprofit administration, and organizational operations to her role. Her longstanding relationship with Eastern includes service as a Trustee from 2005 to 2012, including previously serving as Board Chair from 2009 to 2012. She returned to the Board in 2019.
Most recently, Dr. Sauchuk served as Vice President of Finance and Operations at the University of Valley Forge from 2021 to 2024. Her previous leadership experience includes serving as Executive Director of Operations at Church of the Saviour, President of Valley Forge Military Academy and College, and Chief Operating Officer of ESF Summer Camps, Inc. Earlier in her career, she spent a decade as Senior Vice President of Academic Programs and Student Affairs at Education Management Corporation and also served on the Board of Trustees for Colorado Technical University.
“Dr. Sauchuk’s extensive leadership experience and longstanding commitment to Eastern make her exceptionally well-suited to serve as Board Chair. We are grateful for her willingness to lead during this important season in the University’s history.”
Eastern also recognizes the faithful leadership and service of Steve Clemens, who has served on the Board of Trustees since 2004 and as Chair since 2017.
A 1991 graduate of Eastern University, Clemens earned a B.A. in Political Science, magna cum laude, before receiving his J.D., magna cum laude, from Harvard Law School in 1994. Following a clerkship with the United States Tax Court in Washington, D.C., he entered private practice and is now a partner in the New York office of Goodwin Procter LLP, where his practice focuses on the tax aspects of mergers, acquisitions, and leveraged buyouts.
Steve and his wife, Cathy, a 1992 Eastern graduate, have remained deeply involved with the University for decades and were recently named Eastern’s Alumni of the Year for 2026.
“Steve has led the Board with wisdom, integrity, and deep care for Eastern’s mission,” Matthews said. “His impact on this institution has been tremendous, and we are immensely grateful for his years of faithful service and leadership.”
As Eastern University looks ahead, the institution is excited to welcome Dr. Sauchuk into this leadership role and continue building toward its next century of impact.
