St. Davids, PA: Eastern University is pleased to be the recipient of a $1 million dollar grant from the Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program (RACP) in Pennsylvania.
The RACP is a grant program established by the Commonwealth and administered by the Office of the Budget “for the acquisition and construction of regional economic, cultural, civic, recreational, and historical improvement projects” (Source: RACP Website). Pennsylvania Senator Amanda M. Cappelletti (D-17 Montgomery/Delaware) announced last week that Eastern University would be a recipient of funding from the RACP.
“From property acquisition to facility improvements, these projects address a variety of needs for our communities,” said Senator Cappelletti. “I’m thrilled to see these projects receive the adequate funding they need and look forward to visiting these projects upon completion.”
The $1 million awarded to Eastern is designated for renovations to the athletic facilities, including gymnasium additions and updates, site work, a vehicular bridge, a pedestrian walkway, and an internal drive connection to on-campus athletic facilities.
“We are extremely grateful and blessed to receive these funds,” shares President Ron Matthews. "The completion of these projects will greatly enhance and strengthen our Eastern campus, community, and facilities. One of the five priorities in Eastern's 2022-2027 Strategic Plan is to increase philanthropic support to Eastern, and this award is a strong start to this effort."
With over 500 student athletes enrolled at Eastern this year, the RACP grant is a timely and noteworthy gift to the Eastern community.
