St. Davids, PA: Eastern University, in partnership with Temple University, is excited to announce a new accelerated degree track specializing in forensic chemistry. The 4+1 undergraduate/graduate program leads to a BS in Chemistry or BS in Biochemistry degree from Eastern, plus a Professional Science Master's (PSM) in Forensic Chemistry at Temple University.
Eastern students admitted to this fast-track program will take graduate work at Temple beginning in their junior year at Eastern (one evening course per semester), and then continue in the Temple graduate program full-time for one more year to complete their master’s degree. The graduate year, involving studies in biopharmaceutics, toxicology, law and ethics, includes a professional internship in a crime lab.
Through this partnership, students will be nurtured in rigorous sciences and social justice through the eyes of Christian faith at Eastern, while engaging in exceptional graduate studies in the popular field of forensic science at Temple.
Jeanne Bundens, Chair of the Department of Chemistry in Eastern’s College of Arts and Sciences, shares, “We are excited to offer students a clear pathway toward a career in forensic science that involves versatile, advanced credentials while saving time and money."
Nicole Hege '19, a student currently enrolled in the first Temple graduate course of the program, says, “I like the program a lot and it is very interesting. It is a great class to get started into graduate school and the train ride is very convenient. It is also a great chance to network with other people in the forensic field."
