St. Davids, PA: Eastern University rose in the rankings by 13 positions in the 2018 edition of America's Best Colleges in U.S.News & World Report magazine. This translates to Eastern University once again being ranked in the Top Tier of North Regional Universities. Eastern's ranking places the Philadelphia Christian university in the Top Tier of educational institutions in the Middle Atlantic and New England states. The 2018 overall rankings include more than 1389 schools nationwide.
According to the U.S. News and World report the rankings are based on a number of measures of quality including graduation and retention rates, assessment of excellence, faculty resources, student selectivity, financial resources, graduation rate performance and alumni giving.
Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs Dr. Kenton Sparks remarked on the Eastern educational experience and the upward movement in ranking by saying, “I believe that Eastern University is much, much better than any ranking system can capture, but I’m certainly pleased to hear that our upper-tier rank has moved up 13 steps this year. It’s a testimony to the great work our faculty, staff and administrators are doing to serve our students well. Our mission, every day, is to love God and our neighbor in all we do. That makes all of the difference."
Over the past 32 years, the U.S. News college rankings, which groups schools based on the 2015 update of categories created by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching, has grown to be the most comprehensive research tool for students and parents considering higher education opportunities.
