Dear friends,

The principalities and powers were created and ordained by God (Col. 1:16) to serve humanity by being conformed, so that His love and justice would be reflected within each of them. But like so much of this fallen world, they are in rebellion against the designs of their creator and Christians can say with Hamlet, “The time is out of joint—O cursed spite, that ever I was born to set it right!”

That is the task of the church, to set things right.

For more than forty years I have taught at Eastern University, a Christian University, and I have believed that the task of the Christian University is to train students to be God’s revolutionary agents of change and to go into all sectors of society and invade all institutions with the expressed purpose of being leaven and salt (Matt. 13:33 and Matt. 5:13), permeating each of them so as to bring them into harmony with the values of the kingdom of God.

Therefore, my hope for the Campolo Scholars and all Eastern and Palmer students is that they have a long obedience in the same direction; that they become instruments for social change; that they sense and affirm, in word and deed, the obligation as Christians to participate as co-laborers in God’s loving and redemptive work to change the world from what it is to what God wants it to be.

Essentially, to equip each future leader of the church “for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ.”

Please join me in praying for the Campolo Scholars and partnering monthly, quarterly, or annually to sponsor their scholarships and undergird the spiritual formation and mentoring programs the Campolo Center provides to equip them to proclaim the Gospel boldly, faithfully, and effectively.
